Description
Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking to appoint a single supplier or suppliers, or consortium of suppliers acting as a single legal entity, for the provision of Next Generation Broadband infrastructure across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to enable sustainable access for at least 90 % of all premises and faster downstream connectivity of at least 2Mbps for all premises, all by not later than 2015.During the course of the Competitive Dialogue, solutions will be explored which, inter alia, further stimulate demand and sustainable take up by end users through collaborative and innovative approaches to achieve the Authority’s objectives for economic growth and digital inclusion.
The total value of the contract over its life time is currently envisaged to be between GBP 60 000 000 and GBP 100 000 000. This range includes a public sector contribution of approximately GBP 30 000 000, composed of an allocation of GBP 6 750 000 from Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) and a substantial commitment of up to GBP 23 000 000 from Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council. Other funding sources, such as from EU Funding Streams, may also be accessed.
The successful bidder will be required to provide a significant (multi million pound) investment alongside the public sector funding.
