Description

The scheme involves the replacement of 107 bridge bearings on the A610 Butterley Viaduct. The 4 span viaduct carries the A610 which is a single carriageway over Butterley Hill which is a public highway together with spanning over privately owned land.

The bridge was constructed in the early 1980’s and comprises of 130mm thick reinforced concrete deck slab supported on twelve 1.20m deep precast prestressed ‘M8’ beams with a total of 5 mechanical and 102 elastomeric bearings.

To undertake the replacement of the bearings substantial temporary works, hydrodemoliton, concrete repairs and jacking of the bridge deck will be required.

The successful contractor will need to demonstrate previous experience of undertaking this type of work as a Principal Contractor Failure to demonstrate adequate experience will result in the tender not being considered.
