Accessibility Policy

This website has been conceived and designed with accessibility in mind. At all stages of its production, care has been taken to ensure that people who use this site are able to do so, regardless of ability and how they access and interact with the pages.

This has been achieved by optimising the HTML, moving style and layout to an external style sheet (where possible) and giving users the ability to change text size to suit their needs.

No graphics have been used to convey important information which is not otherwise available textually, and tables used in laying out the pages continue to make sense when linearised.

The intention is that this website achieves and exceeds (where possible) WCAG Priority 2 checkpoints (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).

Interaction

All interactive elements, including hyperlinks, are fully accessible to anyone using assistive technologies and pointing devices other than the mouse.

To this end, all the consistent links have been assigned the following hotkeys (Known as access keys):-

  • Alt + h (return to home page)
  • Alt + a (accessibility policy)
  • Alt + i (privacy policy)
  • Alt + p (print current page)
  • Alt + e (email current page)
  • Alt + m (site map)
  • Alt + l (login/out)

After using an "access key" remember to use your "enter/return" key to visit the relevant page.

Navigating Forms

  • Alt + b (back to previous step)
  • Alt + c (cancel process)
  • Alt + f (continue forward to next step/finish)

Keyboard Navigation

  • Tab (move forward through current pages interactive elements)
  • Tab + Shift (move backwards)
  • Return/Enter (activate link or button)

Using the Email Page Feature

The website contains a feature whereby you may forward the address (URL) to a colleague or friend. When activating this feature, the page will be replaced by a simple form. Filling in the form enables you to enter the details of the person to whom you wish to send the page. On submitting this form you will be redirected back to the original page.
